Helensburgh, located along the River Clyde is less than 30 miles from Glasgow. Positioned on the waterfront, it offers stunning views of Greenock and the Inverclyde area, which are particularly captivating when illuminated at night.

Helensburgh has excellent rail links with two railway stations. Helensburgh Central is a short distance from the promenade. Helensburgh Upper is located further up the hill, along the renowned West Highland Line between Glasgow and Oban, where you can change for Fort William.

A stroll along Helensburgh Pier and Promenade offers the best vantage point to admire the town and its scenic hills. Walking along the promenade, you'll encounter various points of interest. At the beginning of the pier, you'll find a significant marker for the start of the John Muir Way, a circular stone plinth with engraved footprints and a quote from John Muir. The start of the 134-mile walk or cycle from Helensburgh on the Firth of Clyde to Dunbar on the Firth of Forth.

Other notable sights along the promenade include The Henry Bell Monument, an impressive obelisk overlooking the Clyde, as well as the Bust of John Logie Baird, the renowned inventor of the TV who was born in Helensburgh.

Helensburgh is an ideal starting point for exploring Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, with Loch Lomond and Balloch only a short drive away.
