Set amidst stunning Highland scenery, Beauly is a quaint village with a rich history. Its name derives from the French phrase beau lieu, meaning "beautiful place," supposedly coined by French monks who marvelled at its serene surroundings.
Beauly Priory, a 13th-century ruin steeped in history and provides a peaceful spot to explore. Once home to Valliscaulian monks, the Priory is surrounded by ancient trees and historic gravestones. Fans of the Outlander series may recognize it, as the priory is mentioned in the books. The Aigas Field Centre is just outside the village. A nature and conservation centre that provides wildlife holidays in the Highlands.
Campbell's of Beauly, Known for its tailoring and traditional Highland wear, has served locals and visitors since 1858. A visit here offers a glimpse into Scottish heritage and craftsmanship.
Located approximately 15 miles west of Inverness, making it a convenient base for exploring the surrounding Highlands. The village lies near the convergence of several rivers, including the River Beauly, and is just a short drive from Loch Ness. Beauly is also close to Muir of Ord, home to the Glen Ord Distillery and the scenic Black Isle peninsula.
