Blair Drummond Safari Park, on the outskirts of Stirling in central Scotland, is one of the country's top visitor attractions and a great family day out.
Within the 160-acre Park, home to over 300 different animals, you will not be stuck for things to do and explore. The drive through the Animal Reserve is one of the park's highlights, along with a Giant Adventure Playground, Dinosaur Forest and Animal exhibitions throughout the day.
Enjoy this stunning four-section animal reserve drive-through, make sure to lock your doors, and turn your automatic boot off! The drive-through takes you through four different sections, with the highlights being the lion and monkey enclosures. You can end up with a monkey climbing on your car!
Walk through the stunning Dinosaurs Forest and learn about over 20 dinosaur species, including the famous T-Rex.
The Adventure Playground is a kids' favourite, so leave plenty of time for this. It has a pirate ship, a mini climbing frame, sandpits, and a covered play area for the younger kids. The Giant Fort Tower will keep the older kids entertained for hours.
There are several fairground-style rides located beside the Adventure Playground, including a merry-go-round, teacups, a dragon train, dodgums, and a kids' plane ride. These rides are not included in the ticket price, and tokens can be purchasedfrom the nearby kiosk.
Climb aboard Hector the train and enjoy a 10-minute train journey around the park. The journey takes you through the forest towards the lake and down to Chimp Island. The train does not require pre-booking. Tickets for the train can be purchased on the day and are not included in the ticket price for entry to the park. The train journey lasts about 15 minutes and is also educational, with facts on animals across the park.
Take home a souvenir from your day at Blair Drummond. The gift shop is open all day, selling a selection of items. The Pocket Money Shop is slightly different, open from 12 noon to 3 pm, and this shop has all items under £5.
The park has several food outlets, including the Food Court, the Loaded Fries stand, wood-fired pizzas and the Station Cafe. You can even bring your own food and hire a BBQ for the day.
Tickets must be pre-booked online to gain entry to the park. You can not pay for tickets at the gate. Weekends and holidays can get very busy, so it is best to book as far in advance as you can.
