Dunbar is a picturesque town located on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth in East Lothian, Scotland. Once a grand and imposing fortress, Dunbar Castle lies in ruins above the town's bustling harbour, a well-known fishing port in the southeast of the country. The castle's remains still dominate the approach to the harbour.
Driving from Edinburgh to Dunbar will take approximately 45 minutes, as the town is around 30 miles from the Scottish capital. However, if driving isn't your thing, there are also good bus and train connections from Edinburgh.
Dunbar boasts a rugged coastline perfect for long walks. Its John Muir Country Park is home to the breathtaking Belhaven Bay, a vast and beautiful beach. The wonderful North Berwick is northwest of Dunbar. This stunning seaside town is well worth visiting and has excellent views of Bass Rock. Gullane is famed for its golf and stunning beach just a few miles further along the coast.
