Edinburgh's Christmas Markets transform the city centre into a festive wonderland every year. The markets run from the 15th of November 2025 to the 4th of January 2026. The markets bring fun, lights, music, food and entertainment right into the heart of Scotland's capital.
The markets and attractions are across three main areas in the city centre.
Wander through rows of wooden stalls in East Princes Street Gardens, offering everything from handmade decorations and winter accessories to local products. This is the main Christmas Market. There's also no shortage of food, from German bratwurst to loaded fries, locally made pies, pancakes, crepes and Scottish festive favourites, we even tried Nutella honey!! Before enjoying the big wheel, or for the more adventurous person, you can head up on the around-the-world Starflyer.
In West Princes Street Gardens, beside the stunning Ross Fountain, you will find a very different feel, with family fun, lots of rides, and amusements for all ages. With the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.

A highlight each winter, the George Street ice rink has a fantastic festive atmosphere, with twinkling lights and themed music.
Absolutely. With its dramatic backdrop, great food, festive atmosphere and variety of things to do, Edinburgh's Christmas Markets are a must-visit. Yes, it isn't a cheap day out, but it is a great experience. Whether you're visiting for food, gifts or a winter day out, the city comes alive and looks beautiful at this time of year.

Weekdays and earlier in the day are quieter than weekends, but accept that they will be busy, especially on a lovely winter's day.
