Lochgilphead, located in Argyll, sits at the tip of Loch Gilp, a small offshoot of the larger Loch Fyne. The town's name comes from the Gaelic Ceann Loch Gilb, meaning "head of Loch Gilp." You can reach Lochgilphead by taking the A83 from Inveraray or the A816 from Oban.

The Crinan Canal which connects Loch Fyne to the Sound of Jura. Remains a key feature of the area, often referred to as "Britain's most beautiful shortcut." This 9-mile canal is a haven for walkers, cyclists, and boating enthusiasts. Ardrishaig, a village at the Eastern end of the Crinan Canal, offers more picturesque views.

A short drive from Lochgilphead, you can discover the fascinating archaeological sites of Kilmartin Glen and Kilmartin Museum. Explore the Glen's rich archaeological heritage, Dunadd Fort is not far from Kilmartin Glen. An ancient hill fort is thought to have been the seat of the kings of Dalriada, an early Gaelic kingdom. The top offers breathtaking views and showcases a rich Scottish history.

Lochgilphead is an ideal base to explore the Kintrye Peninsula, Tarbet, a stunning fishing village and the town of Campbeltown.
