Perched along the beautiful banks of Loch Broom Ullapool is a delightful fishing community located in the Northwest Scottish Highlands. Founded in 1788 as a herring harbour by the British Fisheries Society. It preserves its seafaring traditions while showcasing the stunning beauty of the Highlands. The village's white-painted houses that line the seafront and breathtaking scenery make Ullapool a village worth visiting.

The Ullapool Museum, in a former Church, offers an intriguing look into the village's past. From its fishing roots to its significance during the Highland Clearances.

The remarkable natural marvel of Corrieshalloch Gorge lies just a short drive from Ullapool. Shaped by the River Droma, the gorge boasts a suspension bridge and the captivating Falls of Measach. With plenty of parking and public toilets, a choice of walks awaits the two main viewing areas. The bridge is limited to 6 people at any time and does move a little. If you cross over the bridge to the other side, take a short walk to the viewing platform. This gives you amazing views across the gorge and view of the waterfall.

Boat trips depart from Ullapool Harbour through Loch Broom to the Summer Isles via Loch Broom. As you explore, take in the stunning scenery and majestic mountains of the Coigach and Scoraig peninsulas. Additionally, on a clear day, you can enjoy breathtaking views stretching all the way to the Hebrides.

Ullapool serves as an excellent base for discovering the North West Coast of the Highlands and acts as a gateway to the North Coast 500 route near the remote wilderness of Assynt, home to iconic peaks like Suilven and Quinag. Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands, is roughly 58 miles to the southeast, making it a suitable option for a day trip.
